Mabry Mill

Mabry Mill, located at milepost 176.2 of the Blue Ridge Parkway in Meadows of Dan, Virginia, is a historic site featuring a water-powered gristmill, sawmill, and blacksmith shop. Built in 1910 by Ed Mabry, the mill offers visitors a glimpse into early 20th-century Appalachian life. The site includes self-guided tours of a sorghum mill, soap-making kettle, and an old-time whiskey still. The adjacent Mabry Mill Restaurant & Gift Shop serves renowned buckwheat cakes, country ham, and Virginia barbecue, with a gift shop offering cornmeal and buckwheat flour. The mill is open year-round, with cultural demonstrations on weekends during summer and early fall. The restaurant operates seasonally from April through October, with hours varying by day.
